Dr. Mathew Cherian did his MBBS from MKCG Medical College, Orissa in the year 1984. He obtained his MD in Radiology from JIPMER, Pondichery following which he did a Postdoctoral course in interventional radiology at Sri Chitra Tirunal Institiute of Medical Sciences, Trivandrum. He joined KMCH as Consultant in Radiology in 1991. He had several International and National presentations to his credit. He was the Medical advisor for Boston-Scientific and Johnson and Johnson, USA.
He is a proctor for Boston Scientific for development of interventional radiology in South East Asia
He has pioneered interventional radiology in this part of the country and is the founder of CO2 angiography in India. He is also the founder member and current President of the Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. He routinely performs angioplasty and stenting of blood vessels and treats tumors, fibroids, and vascular malformations by embolization. He is also one of the few interventional radiologists performing procedures in the brain to treat aneurysms and AVMS.
He is a peer reviewer for the Indian Journal of Radiology and Imaging and Cardio- Vascular and Interventional Radiology.
